The Telangana government has introduced key amendments to the Indiramma housing scheme following consultations with MLAs and ministers. These changes were made after a four-day Gram Sabha was held last month to review applications. Approximately one lakh applications were received for the scheme, prompting a reassessment of beneficiary eligibility criteria.

According to the latest government circular, employees earning below Rs 15,000 per month are now eligible to apply for Indiramma houses. This includes Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Gram Panchayat employees, and other government personnel falling within the salary threshold.

The Managing Director (MD) of the Telangana Housing Corporation, VP Gautam, has directed project directors (PDs) to expedite the establishment of brick manufacturing and centering units at the mandal and municipal levels. Additionally, infrastructure development for double-bedroom and colony houses must be accelerated. Ongoing construction must be resumed immediately, with housing engineers ensuring timely completion of projects.

To maintain progress, the government has instructed that beneficiaries who have received Indiramma house pattas must initiate construction up to the basement level by March 10. The housing scheme mandates that work commence within 45 days of sanction letter issuance, aligning with previous policies followed in the erstwhile united state. Officials affirm that these regulations are being strictly implemented.

The government has outlined a phased financial assistance structure for beneficiaries. Upon laying the foundation and completing the basement, an initial installment of Rs 1 lakh will be disbursed. The subsequent financial breakdown includes Rs 5 lakh for the basement stage, Rs 1 lakh after wall construction, Rs 1.25 lakh upon slab completion, Rs 1.75 lakh at a further slab stage, and a final installment of Rs 1 lakh once the house is fully constructed. The government will transfer these funds directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts to ensure financial support as the financial year draws to a close.
